6 Tips on How to Prevent Acne (Pimples)

Acne and pimples can be prevented using some of the methods mentioned below, like washing your hair daily, washing your pillow cases, paying attention to your diet and drinking a lot of water etc. You should also avoid Pimple Popping or Squeezing, you shouldn’t pop pimples or squeeze them out, and when you do this you tend to push the bacteria and pus deep into the skin. This can also cause permanent acne scars on your skin. So remember not to squeeze your pimples, they will leave permanent marks on your skin.
  1. Avoid Direct Sun and Heat
Some oral and topical acne medications may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Some studies have found out that the sun's ultraviolet rays can increase inflammation and redness. Whether you have pimples or not, always apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. Look for a non-acnegenic sunscreen to decrease the chance of new pimples. Again, always read the ingredients on the product label to know what you're putting on your skin.

Regular exercise is good for your body, mind and skin. Many diseases and conditions can be avoided by daily exercise reduces anxiety and boosts blood flow throughout the body. When you exercise, avoid wearing clothing or using exercise equipment that rubs on the skin and may cause irritation. Also, avoid wearing hats, goggles, or helmets that cause you to sweat excessively, as this can irritate the skin and increase bacteria. Always shower or bathe right after exercise. Avoid Constipation because it’s the main reason of acne. If you have it, treat it immediately

Although no specific food has been found to cause acne for everyone. Some may get acne by eating chocolate, while others by fried foods. So avoid eating them. Research shows that eating foods high in vitamin A and beta-carotene may boost your immunity and skin health. Carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, apricots, kale, and spinach are all high in beta-carotene, the type of vitamin A produced by plants.  To prevent major skin problems drink lots of water. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eating a natural diet consiting of minimum processed foods will serve as a defence against acne.

Always clean your face twice a day by washing with very mild soap and lukewarm water in a circular motion. Wash your face gently with clean hands. Do not scrub your face with a coarse textured sponge, which can irritate the skin. The aim of washing is to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from the skin surface. Use warm, not hot, water and a mild facial cleanser. 

5.    Avoid Pimple Popping or Squeezing
Do not try to prick and peel the acne as this can leave permanent marks on the face. Don’t touch your face and avoid propping your cheek or chin on your hands. This will only worsen the situation by irritating the already inflamed skin.

  1. Try Acne Remedies (Natural or over the Counter)
You can try acne products that are available over the counter with ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, antibacterial agent with a drying effect, or salicylic acid, an agent that sloughs off skin and gets rid of bacteria.  Start small and then add or reduce depending on the progress. It’s always recommended that you use these products with caution especially people with delicate skin.  You can also Apply a decoction on the face, made by boiling 1 teaspoon fenugreek - dana methi seeds in 1 liter water for a few of minutes for preventing pimples, blackheads, dryness and wrinkles.
